We are currently seeking a Finance Director in Guinea tolead all aspects of the finance function and to facilitate the integration between accounting, finance, andprogram staff towards the common goal of ensuringthat project objectives are met. TheFinance Director will serve as a thought partner to the Country Director to analyze and maintain the financial health of the program portfolio.

Functional Relationships

Helen Keller has a matrixedreporting structure. Regularcommunication and a spirit of teamwork amongcolleagues, both hierarchically and laterally are essential to makethis structure thrive.

 

The Finance Director reports directly to the CountryDirector and is a key member of the Country ManagementTeam (CMT). To ensure congruity andconsistency of global financialpolicies and procedures, the Directorwill also be a member of the global Finance department with a dotted-line reportingrelationship to the Controller.

 

The position directly supervises a team of staff atdifferent professional skill levels, works closely with colleagues at all levels of Helen Keller’s global managementstructure, especially subject matter expertsin accounting, budget and finance,business development, financesystems and grants compliance. S/he maybe called upon to participate in global working groups or steering committeesand/or to provide support to colleagues in other countryoffices.

This position liaises with donors and/or subrecipients for the country’s portfolio, representing Helen Kellerat donor and project partnermeetings.

 

Scope of the Position

TheFinance Director is responsible for the overall financial management of thecountry office portfolio which may becomposed of projects funded by Foreign & Local Government - USAID, IrishAid, and/or other multi-lateral orprivately funded initiatives. S/he will manage a collaborative effort withcountry office and global managementcolleagues to ensure adherence to Helen Keller policies and procedures, maintain strong internalcontrols; supervise the management and maintenance of the generalledger and all other accounting functions and oversee and participate in the administration and management ofawards in the country office portfolio; and the implementation of financialoversight mechanisms to ensurefinancial integrity and compliance with donor and Helen Keller policies as well as local laws across programs.
